Jesus was a gift of God to the whole world
that is to all history. He is a dynamic gift, a power gift, not just an
education gift. He is the Resurrection and the Life. His ministry was
preaching, teaching and healing (Matthew 4,23).
PREACHING.
That didn't mean sermons in pulpits. The original word should be translated as a proclamation, an announcement or royal edict. It was not to tell us what to do, but what God would do, what would happen, and what WAS happening. He said "Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand."
TEACHING:
Christ's teaching was not just facts, information. He taught LIFE. Look at the Sermon on the Mount. It provides nothing much by way of information. It shows us what to live for, how to live, how not to have a nervous breakdown, how to make a success of being alive.
HEALING:
John's Gospel does not call “miracles”miracles, but SIGNS. Signs of what? Signs of how God feels about things when they are wrong and how He opposes the works of the devil by healing the sick. He is the author of peace, not confusion. “Peace, be still…”
