Seven Longings of the Human Heart - Longing #3: Longing for Beauty

I'm continuing with sharing my brief descriptions of longing #3, referring to the "Seven Longings of the Human Heart," by Mick Bickle & Deborah Heibert's book.

If you would like a copy of the book, you can find it at ihopkc,  Amazon, or Christianbooks.com. (I'm not getting any commission mentioning this book or sharing links.)

Longing #3:

Longing for Beauty

God has made us beautiful and to be filled by His beauty. He enjoys beauty, surrounds Himself with beauty in heaven, and IS the beautiful God, Savior, and Lord! All of heaven is enthralled by Him! We too are made to be enthralled in and by Him which connects with the first two longings. We are made in His image and to grow in likeness in Him. Have you considered that you may be able to grow in beauty?

***

The infinite nature and depth of God is powerful and although God loved us even before we could lift a finger to do anything for Him, He calls us in growth into being more like Jesus--the beautiful King. (Of course, there are so many ways that we grow in Christ-likeness, but beauty is rarely discussed.)

Some of us may be uncomfortable with this topic since beauty was not a subject that was much discussed or defined in our past. Possibly, the opposite was spoken and even labeled over ourselves and many times over the idea of God Himself.

I would challenge you to ask God and search scriptures to find God's heart and definition of what "Beauty" is.

Take your ideas of how you want God to make you more beautiful and lay them down before Jesus and ask for an exchange for His reality of what His beauty in you looks like.

Or ask Holy Spirit to help you to desire to see God's beauty through His lens and definitions.
