Observing Hurricane Harvey...from indoors of course!

My prayers go out to all who have been adversely affected by Hurricane Harvey! There are many without electricity and have been evacuated from their homes.

I am very happy to say that the assistance of law enforcement, fire dept, national guard, public safety personnel, and volunteers have responded quickly and quite efficiently. Even though the need has been overwhelming, they have been doing such a great job!

Having also experienced Hurricane Katrina and Ike from the past, this has been the calmest and smoothest Hurricane experience yet. This is not to downplay anyone who is affected or suffering during this event, but I do want to give due honor to everyone who are giving their time, effort and resources in helping their fellow neighbor out. It also shows improvement in the city's safety/emergency procedures since Hurricane Allison, Katrina & Ike.

Some other neat things to witness... people pulling together to help each other out:
Citizens and church members also have taken initiative in using their own boats to help rescue people from their flooded homes (and for an odd and proud moment, reminds me of the film,"Dunkirk") My mom's church member has been volunteering in picking people up with his boat.

There was a major beer manufacturer who stopped their regular production for a day to can drinking water in order to donate to the shelters

A large furniture company opened up its retail store to give the national guard a place to rest

Doctors who had been stranded without relief for days in hospitals, continue to tend to patients

Doctors volunteering medical assistance in the shelters

NY police members coming down to assist with safety and enforcement

People donating clothes to flood victims, which many were rescued with only the clothes on their backs (and wet too!)

My sister's pastor was on Daystar last night and was able to talk about the needs of the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Daystar has agreed to give 100% match in donations, up to $10,000 today (8/29/17) and 100% of the proceeds go straight to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

... and countless others who are bringing their bit of help, hope and peace in this event of chaos
